"I heard about that. I didn't know that it was true."

"Did you catch them?"

It cracks me up so much.

I also love how Ray's gone from "Stop talking to the dog," to talking to the dog wolf, and saying things like "Gotta love that wolf."


4x12:

RayV: Time to get my old life back.
RayK: But that's my life.
RayV: I'm afraid it is.

AUGH MY HEART.

And then the captain just takes his name away, you should be Stanley now, OK? And Kowalski just goes with it. "...Okay"

But you know. We already know he hates 'Stanley' and that he gave up a good transfer to stay on board with Fraser and just like that, none of that is his life anymore, except that it's his whole life.

It's a fricking JOB. Kowalski should have known better than to get so attached. The undercover gig as Vecchio was temporary for him. Ray Vecchio would someday return and Kowalski would no longer be the fake Ray Vecchio. Unless poor Ray was killed in Las Vegas, but, even then, Kowalski would have been set back to his job before the Vecchio gig. I really don't get all the sympathy for him. Ray V has more sympathy from me, trying to retake his life from someone who doesn't want to give it back. I blame poor writing. I don't get why Kowalski doesn't have options for what to do after being Vecchio. The writing was much, much better in the pre-Kowalski seasons.

I think the two halves are very different. Not really comparable, and I don't see why one Ray has to have more or less sympathy than the other. The whole thing is more enjoyable to try to read as a whole--how everything can hang together and how to read all the characters based on that--than deciding who 'deserves' more or less sympathy. They're both in tough positions.

I don't get why Kowalski doesn't have options for what to do after being Vecchio.

I don't remember anymore if this was explored. I know there was the problem with his family, but vaguely remember a mention of him not getting on at his old station or something? Or maybe that's a fic I read idk. But eh. The whole second half is silly and ott. I loved it regardless. Or maybe because.
