is there still an active Due South fandom? And where do I find it? The AO3 tags seem a bit slow (Or maybe it feels that way because I'm used to Avengers fandom speed.) and every fic rec list I find is from 2009 or 2010.

I kind of regret not jumping on this bandwagon when it was a thing. Now all the links to fic I WANT are dead and people have purged their journals or abandoned them, and if delicious hadn't eaten itself, I bet there would a be ton of stuff there.


Trying to get into a fandom after the fact feels kind of sad. :(

Yes, there is!
alternate-ds-c6d, dsc6dsnippets, duesouth-bigbang, due south recs on crack_van, to name the ones I know off the top of my head. luzula, mizface, hazelwho, seascribe, scribe, garonne, butterflyghost, ride-4-ever and myself active writers at the moment and I'm sure there are others I don't yet know about. If you want to play, fan-flashworks or dsc6dsnippets are lovely and welcoming places. I only found the fandom in like December and they're the sweetest people. Come join :)

I looked at fan flashworks, but it's way too short for me. I can't seem to get anything to come in under 5K lately. But then, I haven't tried DS yet, so I might give it a shot if I manage to wrap up my avengers_remix thing.

...Would it be weird if I lurked then randomly friended some of these people? D'you think?

You could always drop them a line and introduce yourself - I picked a bunch of them off a friending meme that was making the rounds in December and introduced myself by way of fic, but I think friending people because you got into the fandom/read some fic is not weird at all - goodness knows people have done it to me :)
